Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint: a magical trio of READers
For Immediate Release
CHICAGO—ALA Graphics agrees that good things come in threes. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint join the celebrity READ campaign this fall, honoring the reading phenomenon inspired by J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. The long awaited posters had fan sites and message boards in a flurry within 24-hours of the debut.
The stars show their love of reading by each holding a favorite book: Radcliffe with Mikhail Bulgakov’s “The Master & Margarita,” Watson with William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” and Grint with Anthony Burgess’ “A Clockwork Orange.” The release of the READ posters precedes the highly anticipated Nov. 19 movie release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the first of a two-part finale to the series.
In advance of the movie release, and only until Oct. 15th, early orders for the Harry Potter Set including all three posters can be placed at the ALA Store for 15 percent off list price. Orders will begin shipping the week of Oct. 18 with pre-orders releasing first.
Five participants in the ALA Graphics Facebook page trivia contest have already received the new Celebrity READ posters as a prize for having the first correct response to a daily question. The prizes and questions continue through Oct. 15, with a special opportunity to also win a “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” movie poster, compliments of Warner Bros. Pictures.
Daniel Radcliffe has played the title role in all of the blockbuster films based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling Harry Potter books. Radcliffe made his Broadway debut as Alan Strang in Peter Shaffer’s play “Equus” and received both Drama League and Drama Desk nominations for his performance. He is returning to Broadway in the spring of 2011 starring in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”
Rupert Grint has starred as Ron Weasley, Harry Potter’s classmate and loyal best friend in all of the Harry Potter films. This fall, Grint stars in the independent action comedy “Wild Target,” also starring Bill Nighy and Emily Blunt. Grint’s other film credits include Peter Hewitt’s “Thunderpants,” alongside Simon Callow, Stephen Fry and Paul Giamatti; “Driving Lessons,” with Julie Walters and Laura Linney; and the indie film “Cherrybomb,” which screened to critical acclaim at film festivals in the U.K. and Europe.
Emma Watson has starred as Hermione Granger in all of the Harry Potter films. Watson was the voice of Princess Pea in the 2008 animated adventure “The Tale of Despereaux,” and starred in the BBC’s television drama “Ballet Shoes.” Watson is also passionate about fashion and has worked closely with Fair Trade and organic clothing producer People Tree helping to create a new teenage fashion line and fronted recent campaigns for Burberry. Watson is currently studying for a Liberal Arts degree at Brown University.
