CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, has launched a new CaféPress store at www.cafepress.com/yalsa. YALSA’s store features t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, beverage holders and more that promote libraries and reading. Proceeds from YALSA’s CaféPress store will support the Friends of YALSA.

“The design of the YALSA items for sale is clean and simple and perfect for the workplace, out with your friends and traveling to conferences,” said YALSA President Kim Patton. “We wanted to give our members an opportunity to purchase fun items so that they can show off their YALSA pride and help support a great cause like Friends of YALSA at the same time.”

The Friends of YALSA support YALSA initiatives and services that impact the profession and teens in five action areas: advocacy, continuous learning, planning for the future, research and teen literacy and young adult literature. Donations to the Friends of YALSA support a different action area each year; 2010 donations will support advocacy. In its first five years, the Friends of YALSA raised more than $25,000 to support an annual Spectrum Scholarship, several Emerging Leaders and Library Advocacy Day stipends. For more than 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos and audio books for teens.
