ALA welcomes DPLA to Chicago, library community members invited to attend
CHICAGO — The American Library Association (ALA) extends its welcome to attendees of DPLA Midwest and invites members of the library community to attend.
Taking place on Oct. 11-12, 2012 in Chicago, DPLA Midwest is the third major public event bringing together librarians, technologists, creators, students, government leaders and others interested in building a Digital Public Library of America.

On Oct. 11, the six DPLA Workstreams and the Steering Committee, along with members of the public, will meet in a series of breakout sessions and working groups to discuss the development of both the DPLA platform and the front end user interface, the establishment of the DPLA as an independent non-profit organization and the launch of the DPLA’s Digital Hubs Project.
On Oct. 12, DPLA Midwest will introduce the new DPLA Board of Directors, showcase the first steps toward the development of the online DPLA prototype, feature comments from participants in the Digital Hubs Pilot Project and continue to provide opportunities for public participation in the work of the DPLA.
