CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians is announcing that its popular L4L webinars are now available for purchase in archived format. The webinars, offered in April during School Library Media Month, are part of Learning4Life (L4L), AASL’s national initiative to implement “Standards for the 21st-Century Learner” and “Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs.” The archives will be available on the AASL Web site at www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/aasl/conferencesandevents/l4lwebinars/l4lwebinararchive.cfm.

The webinar series focuses on the four strands of the standards: Skills, presented by Kristin Fontichiaro; Disposition in Action, presented by Gail Dickinson; Responsibilities, presented by Jami Jones; and Self-Assessment, presented by Marjorie Pappas. Each interactive webinar took the participants through the standards and discussed practical applications in their school library media center and school community. Active participation allowed for different points of view to be discussed within the group. After leading the webinar, each presenter was asked to post to the AASL blog. Those posts can be read by using the keyword search "webinars" on the AASL blog at http://aasl.ala.org/aaslblog.

Skills webinar participant Susannah Tamarkin said, "I took the webinar and it was fantastic! Although I have been doing a lot of reading on my own on the new standards and incorporating this into my classroom, I realized after the webinar what my gaps in understanding were."

If purchased before July 1, AASL will offer a buy three, get one free deal. Member pricing is $50 per webinar, or $180 for the entire series. Non-members can also take advantage of the webinars at $75 per webinar, or $210 for the entire series. AASL will offer a discounts for districts purchasing the archived webinars, as well. Those interested in a district rate are encouraged to contact Jen Habley, manager of Programs and Affiliate Relations, at (800) 545-2433, ext. 1393, or jhabley@ala.org. Once purchased, the archived webinars can be accessed indefinitely, offering the listener the chance to follow each webinar at their own pace.
