CHICAGO - Join hundreds of librarians and library supporters who have already written messages of thanks and appreciation to Julie Andrews for her efforts on behalf of libraries and librarians as the Honorary Chair of National Library Week 2008.

An electronic thank you card can be accessed at http://julieandrews.wufoo.com/forms/thank-you-julie-andrews or by clicking on the Julie Andrews icon on The Campaign for America’s Libraries Web site at www.ala.org/@yourlibrary. The card will be available through Sept. 1.

This year, Academy Award-winning actress Julie Andrews donated her time and image to promoting National Library Week as its Honorary Chair. A print public service announcement (PSA) featuring Ms. Andrews appeared in such national magazines as Entertainment Weekly, O, the Oprah Magazine, and others, and was seen by more than 35 million readers. Ms. Andrews also donated her talents to radio and television spots that were aired by stations across the country.

Messages may be used as part of The Campaign for America’s Libraries’ ongoing story collection Web site, which will be launched soon. All electronic cards and personal handwritten notes will be forwarded to Andrews the week of Sept. 1.

The Campaign for America’s Libraries is ALA’s national public awareness campaign to remind the public about the value of libraries and librarians, and is part of the ALA Public Information Office. For more information, visit www.ala.org/@yourlibrary.
