Bogle-Pratt International Library Travel Fund winner announced

CHICAGO – Leanne Hindmarch is this year's recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) International Relations Committee's Bogle-Pratt International Library Travel Fund .

The Bogle Memorial Fund and the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science will provide a $1,000 cash award for Leanne Hindmarch to attend her first international conference in Los Angeles.

The award is in recognition of Sarah Comly Norris Bogle, a prominent U.S. librarian who made notable contributions in international library service.

Leanne Hindmarch is a librarian at the Weston Family Library of the Toronto Botanical Garden. Ms. Hindmarch is planning to attend the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries (CBHL) in Los Angeles from May 16-20, 2006. According to Hindmarch, attending the CBHL Annual Meeting “is particularly important because the information gained at this conference will be vital in easing the transition from being a community horticultural library to becoming a library able to serve the needs of a true botanical garden.”

“Ms. Hindmarch characterized herself as a "newly minted graduate" who is participating in the development of a newly minted library at the Toronto Botanical Garden. It seemed particularly appropriate that she participate in the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries in Los Angeles, California,” said Mary Biblo, chair of the IRRT-Bogle Pratt Award. “This is the first professional foreign travel for Ms. Hindmarch and it seems that she can make a major contribution to the new Toronto Botanical Garden and its library.”

Ms. Hindmarch will be recognized during the International Relations Round Table Chair's Program on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Bogle-Pratt award will be presented during the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
