LeeAnna Mills Wins a Year of Free AASL Membership
For Immediate Release
Manager, Web Communications
American Association of School Librarians (AASL)
CHICAGO – By sharing the wealth of AASL membership with a colleague, LeeAnna Mills has won a free year of AASL membership. Mills's name was drawn as a monthly winner of the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) Share the Wealth Campaign. By referring Sherrie Ann Cox to AASL, Mills has also been entered to win an AASL National Conference grand prize package, which includes registration, airfare, and hotel accommodations.
When asked why she recommended AASL membership to her colleague, Mills, school librarian at Northside Middle School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, replied: "During district meetings I always make it a point to encourage everyone to become a member of our state professional organization and AASL--not just join but become active members. Being an active member provides a means for us to share real-life examples of what goes on in our school libraries and our needs and concerns. It also offers an outlet to seek guidance, consensus, and direction to make positive changes. AASL has a wealth of professional resources and advocates tirelessly working for all of us, and we need the biggest voice we can get. I think everyone who works as a school librarian should be a member!"
All current, personal AASL members are encouraged to reach out to their colleagues and invite them to join the only national professional organization focused on school librarians and the school library community. For each member recruited, the referring AASL member will receive an entry in a monthly drawing for a complimentary year of ALA and AASL membership. Their name will also be entered into a final grand prize drawing for an AASL National Conference, which includes registration, three nights lodging, and roundtrip airfare to Salt Lake City, Utah, in October 2021. Multiple referrals will be accepted and will increase their chances to win.
To participate and earn entry into prize drawings, download the Share the Wealth membership form located on the AASL website. Share the Wealth membership forms must be returned with payment directly to AASL. Memberships processed by ALA – either online or on paper – will not be included in the Share the Wealth campaign.
