ALA councilors elected

CHICAGO – 34 members have been elected as Councilors-at-Large on the Council of the American Library Association (ALA) for three-year terms. The terms begin at the conclusion of the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans, La, and extend through the end of the 2021 Annual Conference held in San Francisco, Ca.

 

The 2018 - 2021 Councilors-at-Large are:

Mary L. Glendening and Leo S. Lo were also elected as Councilors-at-Large for a two-year term to begin immediately and expire at the end of the 2020 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago, Ill.

ALA Division and Round Table Councilors elected for 2018-2021 include:

  • American Association of School Librarians Division (AASL)—Diane R. Chen
  • Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC)— Julie Dietzel-Glair
  • Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA)-- Michael Golrick
  • Reference & User Services Association (RUSA)—Alesia McManus
  • Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)—Abigail Leigh Phillips
  • Intellectual Freedom Round (IFRT)—Martin Garnar
  • International Relations Round Table (IRRT)—Sandy Hirsh
  • Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT)—Tara Brady

A total of 11,037 votes were cast in the election.  Council, Division and Round Table elections also were decided.
