CHICAGO - Alice Kalinowski, Liaison Librarian at the University of Pittsburgh was selected as the 2018 winner of the BRASS Academic Business Librarianship Travel Award sponsored by Global Financial Data. The grant consists of $1,250 and is awarded to an individual new to the field of academic business librarianship in order to support attendance to the ALA Annual Conference.

Kalinowski serves as the sole liaison to both the graduate and undergraduate programs of Business and Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. She has strengthened the library's relationship with the entrepreneurship hub on campus and created a committee entitled the Entrepreneurship Research Interest Group, made up of librarians from throughout the University, including the law and health science library systems to collaborate on better supporting students.

Although an early career librarian, she has taken full advantage of online BRASS courses and collaborative discussion groups. She is publishing in the area of liaison librarianship and has presented at conferences around the country on such diverse topics as problem-based learning and student database evaluation. "She is described by her director as a "future leader of our profession" and we look forward to meeting and working with her at the ALA 2018 Conference," said selection committee chair, Christina Springfield.

The selection committee includes: Cristina Springfield (Chair), Ann M. Fiegen, Patrick Joseph Griffis, Terence William O'Neill and Hilary Cathleen Smith.
