CHICAGO – As the New Year begins, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) encourages its members to keep their professional development resolution and visit AASL eCOLLAB – their one-stop shop for on-demand learning. Members can access eCOLLAB at ecollab.aasl.org using their already established AASL/ALA website ID and password.
With the addition of more than seventy concurrent sessions recorded at the AASL National Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix, eCOLLAB now contains 400 opportunities for professional learning and continues to grow as monthly webinars on AASL’s new National School Library Standards are presented and archived.
Recently archived standards sessions include:
- It All Fits Together: The New National Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries – AASL Standards editorial board and implementation task force chairs Marcia Mardis and Mary Keeling take viewers on a guided tour of the standards development process and give in-depth introductions to the National School Library Standards (NSLS) integrated content designed to support and enhance learners' experiences, school librarians' practice, and the alignment between school libraries and learning goals.
- The AASL Standards Web Portal: Accessing Standards and Support Resources - Standards editorial board member Kathy Mansfield gives a guided tour of AASL’s Standards web portal, which contains everything school librarians need to access the new standards and a wealth of support resources. Mansfield highlights infographics, videos, links to articles and many more resources for the new standards.
These webinars and other recently added materials can be found under the new content link.
AASL members are also encouraged to share the learning as all AASL Standards webinar archives are freely available to all educators. To access these archives, simply click the blue “Access Content” button and create an ALA account. Access will then be granted to the standards webinars as well as all other complimentary content.
