CHICAGO -  The American Library Association’s (ALA) Information Technology & Telecommunication Services (ITTS) will conduct server maintenance beginning at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 8.

As ITTS works to enhance the association’s technical infrastructure, the ALA website will experience a brief outage, while staff install a new Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) System. All server hardware will be offline during maintenance efforts. However, some Cloud resources, such as email, will be available. The ALA server hardware and website are expected to be offline for most of the evening and will be restored immediately after equipment updates are made.

“ITTS apologies in advance for any inconvenience that Friday’s brief website outage may cause ALA members,” stated Sherri Vanyek, director, Information Technology & Telecommunication Services. “Thank you for your understanding as we work to strengthen the association’s technology capabilities and work to enhance member usability."

For additional information regarding Friday’s outage please contact Sherri Vanyek director, Information Technology & Telecommunication Services, svanyek@ala.org

The ITTS Department supports the technology services of ALA to its staff and membership by investigating new technology, providing training and support materials, and implementing hardware and software platforms that support ALA's Action and strategic direction goals.
