CHICAGO — Registration for the Young Adult Library Services Association’s (YALSA) 2017 Young Adult Services Symposium, which takes place Nov. 3-5 in Louisville, KY, is now open. Any individual interested in attending is welcome to register for the symposium, with early bird rates now through Sept. 15, 2017.
Early bird rates are as follows:
- $199 YALSA Personal Member
- $199 Kentucky Library Association Member
- $199 Kentucky Association of School Librarian Member
- $259 ALA Personal Member
- $329 Non-member (Join YALSA for member pricing! Membership starts at just $61)
- $59 Student (enrolled full-time in a library program)
Register early to take advantage of up to $50 in savings. Registration includes:
- Opening session Friday evening
- Educational programming Saturday and Sunday
- Book Blitz Saturday evening featuring authors and complimentary books
- Option to register for additional learning and social events
- Access to a free webinar
- Certificate of participation with your contact hours
- Refreshment breaks Saturday and Sunday
- Symposium tote bag
- Closing session Sunday afternoon
In addition to the programming included with registration, attendees have the option to add various ticketed events such as Friday pre-conferences, a Saturday Author Luncheon, and extracurricular activities such as city tours. Learn more about the list of programs and events here.
Members can also apply for one of two travel stipends to help offset travel costs to attend the symposium. One travel stipend will be awarded to a student and the other to a library staff member, each are worth up to $1,000. Apply by June 1, 2017.
The symposium will take place at the Hyatt Regency Louisville with the special rate of $125/night for single/double occupancy. Attendees are encouraged to book by October 1, 2017 to take advantage of not only the special rate, but also to ensure room availability. After October 1, hotel room reservations will not be available.
This year’s symposium theme is Libraries: Helping All Teens Build a Better Future. The Symposium will gather together over 500 school and public library staff, educators, researchers, afterschool providers, authors and other teen advocates to explore the role of libraries in helping teens build a better future within the library and beyond.
