Learn more on the official Teen Read Week web site at www.ala.org/teenread.

The Teen Read Week website officially launches April 11, 2016 with updated materials and resources tailored to the 2016 theme. Individuals are encouraged to sign up on the site to become online community members to receive the latest updates and full access to free resources such as a themed logo, on-demand webinars, and more.

Teen Read Week will be celebrated this year with the multi-lingual theme “Read for the fun of it!” from October 9-15, 2016. The theme encourages libraries to highlight services and resources for and with the 22% of the nation’s youth who speak a language other than English at home and promotes the importance and pleasure of reading in all its forms.

Teen Read Week™ is a national adolescent literacies initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association and is held annually in October, the same week as Columbus Day. Its purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users. Join the online discussion with the hashtag #TRW16.

For more than 50 years, YALSA has worked to build the capacity of libraries and library staff to engage, serve and empower teens.  For more information about YALSA or to access national guidelines and other resources go to www.ala.org/yalsa, or contact the YALSA office by phone, (800) 545-2433, ext. 4390, or e-mail, yalsa@ala.org.
