CHICAGO — ALA Publishing has brought back the popular workshop Gadgets in the Library with Jason Griffey with Jason Griffey. This workshop is 90 minutes and hosted live at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Apr. 7, 2016.

What’s the current and near-future state for personal electronics at the library, and what gadgets should you be looking at to help your patrons? Join Jason Griffey for a survey of the current state of technology that you could be using to enhance both your patrons and your library. Jason will revisit some of his past recommendations, make new suggestions, and hopefully introduce a few things you’ve never seen before.

This webinar will cover:

  • Strategies for deciding which technologies to invest in
  • How to build a tech ecosystem for your patrons
  • What’s new and hot in personal electronics

About the Instructor:

Jason Griffey is the founder and principal consultant at Evenly Distributed, a technology consulting firm for libraries and education. He has written extensively on libraries and technology, most recently a chapter in The Top Technologies Every Librarian Needs to Know: A LITA Guide. His previous book, Mobile Technology and Libraries, is a part of the award-winning Tech Set series. Named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker in 2009, he has written and spoken internationally on topics such as the future of technology and libraries, personal electronics in the library, privacy, copyright, and intellectual property. He is the designer and director of The LibraryBox Project, an open source portable digital file distribution system.
