(CHICAGO) At the 2016 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston, the ALA Council passed a resolution against Islamaphobia.

The resolution cites incidents of prejudice and discrimination against individuals of the Muslim faith and recognizes the positive impact that Muslims have made in libraries and library science as well as the contributions that Muslims have made to information and knowledge in fields such as the sciences, mathematics, philosophy, medicine and geography.

The resolution goes on to speak out against Islamaphobia along with colleagues and community members, deploring hate speech directed at Muslims, and issuing a public statement condemning Islamaphobia.

The full text of this resolution can be found on the ALA website.
