Andrew Carnegie Medal

The Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video was awarded for the first time in 1991 to honor an outstanding video production for children released during the previous year. The first recipients were producers George McQuilkin and John Matthews for "Ralph S. Mouse," based on the book by Beverly Cleary.

The annual award is administered by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of ALA, through an endowment established by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

2009 Andrew Carnegie Medal winner:

Paul R. Gagne and Melissa Reilly of Weston Woods Studios, producers of March On! The Day My Brother Martin Changed the World are the 2009 recipients of the Andrew Carnegie Medal for excellence in children’s video. The video is Dr. Christine King Farris’ memory of the historic march on Washington, which took place on Aug. 23, 1963.  The award was announced Jan. 26, 2009, during the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Denver, Jan. 23 - 28.
