ALA Annual Conference Press Kit

The 2015 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference & Exhibition will be held in San Francisco from June 25 - 30.

The ALA is the oldest and largest library association in the world and holds its Annual Conference & Exhibition each summer. The largest such convention in the world is attended by more than 25,000 librarians, library supporters, educators, writers, publishers, Friends of Libraries, trustees and special guests. The conference includes more than 2,500 meetings, discussion groups and programs on various topics affecting libraries and librarians.

The ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition brings together newsmakers, innovators, thought leaders, and influencers in the library field and all over the world. News is made at these events, where important announcements are made, updates are shared, relevant legislation and policy are addressed, and discussions take place that have a major impact on libraries, their role, and their ongoing transformation. Annual Conference events trend nationally on Twitter (#alaac15 ) and are extensively covered in the media.

Approximately 900 exhibiting companies feature the latest in books, online services, automation software, furniture and other materials vital to today's libraries and librarians. ALA units display professional exhibits highlighting the various aspects of the profession.

If I had a time turner like Hermione, I could be in more than one place at a time at ALA Annual.
Getting expert advice on the exhibit hall floor: has great ideas; candy; great jokes; tech guru; a cool new tool.
Witnessing history at the awards celebrations: your favorite authors & illustrators; next up, an inspiring and tear-jerking speech; hooray.
Hearing all sorts of talks given by rock stars: Edwidge Danticat, Nick Offerman, Gloria Steinem.
Attending tons of mind-blowing programs: an incredible idea exchange is occurring! Gamification, diversity, programming, outreach, privacy, cataloging, advocacy.
Instead, I’ll just have to register and make my choices when I get there. See you in June in San Francisco!
Lisa Nowlain.
