CHICAGO ALA Editions announces an exciting new workshop, Seven Strategies for Creating Career Opportunities with Kim Dority. This workshop will last 90 minutes and take place at 2:30 pm EST/1:30 pm CST on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014.

In this workshop, consultant, professor and LIS career coach Kim Dority will offer you concrete strategies and solutions for how to create career opportunities for yourself in a field where many are anxious about the future of the profession as libraries continue to face severe budget cuts.

This workshop will identify the seven strategies that will enable you to recognize and prepare for current and emerging LIS career opportunities. You will learn skills that will allow you to integrate these strategies into your daily professional activities and help you take a strong, proactive role in shaping your career.

The seven strategies that you’ll learn include how to:

  • become opportunistic;
  • get visible;
  • monitor your environment;
  • be prepared to act;
  • take the initiative;
  • impress colleagues and employers;
  • stay passionately curious.
