APA Salary Survey - Member Benefit
ALA organizational and corporate members now have instant access to the most comprehensive and accurate source for library employee salary information from trusted sources -- the American Library Association Office for Research and Statistics ( ORS) and ALA-Allied Professional Association ( ALA-APA). The Library Salary Database is available online and features salary information from the most recently published ALA-APA Library Salary Surveys of more than 65 librarian and non-MLS positions in academic and public libraries.
Users, who access the database with their organizational or corporate ALA membership ID and password, may search for salary information by position, library type, state and/or region. “Now staff in ALA member institutions can easily find salary information that can assist with budget presentations, performance reviews, professional research, and salary comparisons with similar institutions”, says Keith Michael Fiels, ALA Executive Director. The Library Salary Database includes data from 2006 to the present, which can be searched by state, four regions and five population sizes for public libraries and three types of academic libraries. The database also gives national-level mean and quartile data.
The ALA institutional member staff contacts will be sent a reminder annually about the database and when new data is uploaded. The next edition of the ALA-APA Salary Survey: Librarian – Public and Academic will be published in 2012. The next edition of the ALA-APA Salary Survey: Non-MLS – Public and Academic is slated for 2013.
