Why you would recommend LLAMA to a colleague
LLAMA is a great place to get involved as a professional. I sat in on a couple section committee meetings, and found myself on two committees the next year. Within the first three years of committee work I chaired or co-chaired three different programs. LLAMA is an organization that is eager to involve all of its members, as is evident in the newly formed New Professionals Section.
What was the first job you ever had?
My very first job (in junior high) was as a janitor for my father’s firm. My first real job, which I started in my sophomore year in high school, was at a Dillons grocery store. I spent one year as a “courtesy clerk” (bagger), and six years in the produce department.
What was the best book you read recently?
On a recent road trip I listened to Your Brain at Work by David Rock. The book, told as the story of a single work day in the life of a very busy couple, explores how an awareness of how the brain operates might allow the protagonists to follow a different path, making better decisions as they move through a stressful work day.
