Buddy Program Team

Community of Practice: New Professionals

Charge: To oversee the Buddy Program in 2017-18. Matches of New and Experienced Buddies will happen a month or two before both Midwinter and Annual. The team will develop more specific expectations for Buddies: their respective roles, the short-term nature of this arrangement as opposed to the LLAMA Mentoring Program, and commitment to at least one live conversation, either virtual or in person. A process for application will be established to run year round, with matches happening at defined timesdevelop and execute a pilot program to give new members of LLAMA an initial short-term contact person to provide guidance on how LLAMA works and how to get involved. This guidance could include an introduction to a LLAMA conference, LLAMA communities, virtual LLAMA programs, or virtual involvement in LLAMA.

Our Work

Deliverables:

The New Professionals Community was developed to provide a positive conference experience for new LLAMA members. Accordingly, this program pairs new and experienced “buddies” in order to provide an introduction to LLAMA, its structure, and its communities of practice. The Buddy Program is intended to provide new LLAMA members with a short-term alternative to the LLAMA Mentoring Program and other formal mentoring programs.
