Hong Ma, the head of library systems at Loyola University Chicago, leads this session and provides you with practical techniques that apply the principles and theory of project management to the practice of a LSP migration. She covers project planning, team building, facilitating communication, establishing a decentralized collaboration approach to divide tasks and ensure the ownership of functional areas as well as building a cross-departmental inclusive culture.

Hong Ma is the head of library systems at Loyola University Chicago, where she successfully managed the LSP migration and transformation. She led a panel presentation in ELUNA 2017 about the impact of LSP migration. She regularly delivers presentations at major library technology conferences such as Computers in Libraries, LITA Forum, ER&L, and ELUNA, etc. She also routinely appears in publications. She co-authored a chapter in Exploring Discovery: The Front Door to Library’s Licensed and Digitized Content. Recently she contributed a book chapter “Leading changes in library as architect of library technology infrastructure” to the LITA Leadership Guide: The Librarian as Entrepreneur, Leader and Technologist.

Tech Requirements

Live, synchronous lectures will require attendee participation via internet audio. Attendees will need a wired, high-speed internet connection, and a headset or speakers.  It is recommended that attendees use headsets connected to their computers (VOIP) during a Zoom session. All attendees are muted and should use the built in chat function to communicate with presenters.  The use of computer speakers with a mic is not recommended, as it may cause echo. The recommended browser is Mozilla Foxfire although other browsers should work for attending.
