To provide a forum for library and information professionals to discuss and explore emerging technologies in personal computer and computing devices; to provide a support network for those who manage and maintain personal computing hardware and software within the library environment.-

Myth and Realities: Networked Computers and Platform Independence
A panel will discuss and demonstrate the promise and perils of using thin client technologies with a graphical library automated system across a larger rural public library system. Microsoft's NC/Citrix solution, MacIntosh Systems 10.0, and Java Virtual Machine will be discussed.
