INTELLECTUAL FREEDOM ROUND TABLE

40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

You are invited to join the Intellectual Freedom Round Table at a celebration of 40 years of supporting freedom of access to information and freedom of speech!

Refreshments, including signature cocktails, will be served.

**New!** We are pleased to offer library-focused tours of this historic building, the former site of the central branch of the Chicago Public Library!  There is no additional charge for a tour.

In conjunction with the 2013 ALA Annual Conference. This event takes place following the Exhibits Opening Reception at McCormick Place.

 

Tickets

via ALA's Annual Conference registration system (note: you do not have to register for the Annual Conference to attend). The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, June 24.

Tickets are $30 for IFRT members*, $40 for non-members, and $20 for students.

*If you are not a member, consider joining IFRT for only $15

Transportation Options

Shuttle Service

There will be shuttle service between McCormick Place and official ALA Annual hotels during Conference. Service will run until 8 PM between McCormick Place and official hotels on Friday, June 28. The Palmer House Hilton Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, and Hotel Sax are hotel stops on the shuttle routes and are a few blocks away from the Chicago Cultural Center. Walking

You may walk from the closest official ALA Annual hotels to the Chicago Cultural Center.

Taxi Cab

It is a 6-11 minute cab ride between McCormick Place and the Chicago Cultural Center and no more than five minutes between McCormick Place and the closest official ALA Annual hotels.

Public Transportation from McCormick Place to Cultural Center

CTA Bus 3 (northbound to Fairbanks/Huron)

From McCormick Place to Chicago Cultural Center

Fare: $2.25

Travel time: 22 minutes

-  Bus stop on East side of Martin Luther King Drive

-  Take CTA Bus 3 (northbound to Fairbanks/Huron; runs every 10 – 15 minutes)

-  Get off at Michigan & Madison. Walk one block north to Washington. Entrance is on west side of Michigan Ave. at Washington Street.

Metra Electric (commuter rail line)

From McCormick Place to Chicago Cultural Center

Fare: $2.75

Travel time: 10 minutes

-  Station is located on level 2.5 of the Grand Concourse in the South Building

-  Take the Metra Electric line north for four stops. Pick-up times are 6:37, 6:46, 7:22, 7:46, and 8:39

-  Exit at Millennium Station (final stop) at Michigan & Randolph.  Cultural Center is at southwest corner of Michigan & Randolph (event entrance is one block south on Washington St.)
