Below are frequently asked question on the purpose of the State of the Chapter annual reports and how and when to submit them. If you are looking for the reports themselves, they are found at All State of the Chapter Reports.
On recommendation of ALA’s Chapter Relations Committee, beginning in 2012 all Chapters were asked to complete a "State of the Chapter Annual Report" online survey. These snapshot reports (found at All State of the Chapter Reports) help Chapters and ALA assess the health and vitality of state and regional library associations. They also help highlight notable activities and achievements that can be modeled, and identify challenges and needs that may be addressed collectively.
The 2012 State of the Chapter Report obtained data for FY2011. The 2013 State of the Chapter Report obtained data for FY2012. The 2014 State of the Chapter Report will obtain data for FY2013. The 2015 State of the Chapter Report will obtain data for FY2014, the 2016 State of the Chapter Report will obtain data for FY2015, and so on.
The Chapter Councilor is tasked with responsibility for their Chapter’s completion and submission of the "State of the Chapter Annual Report." For Regional Chapters, the President is asked to oversee the submission.
Usually a notifications is sent via e-mail from the Chapter Relations Office in mid-July.
