The 2008 Annual Conference was held in Anaheim, CA, from June 26–July 2, 2008.

The final attendance numbers for the 2008 Annual ALA Conference are:

Total Attendees       16,295

Total Exhibitor           5,752

Total Attendance     22, 047

Unfortunately the James Frey Auditorium Speaker Session had been cancelled.
Harper Collins Publishers and ALA regret any inconvenience this causes.

Committee and business meetings take place June 28-July 1, 2008, and Council Meetings run to July 2. Education programs take place primarily June 28-30, 2008. The exhibits will be held June 28-July 1, 2008, at the Anaheim Convention Center, located at 800 West Katella Avenue in Anaheim. Programs and Meetings will take place in the Convention Center and hotels nearby.

Join us at the Opening Session featuring Ron Reagan an impassioned, informed and gifted speaker on today's much-debated topics. The Opening Session will take place in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena on Saturday, June 28 from 5:30 pm- 7:00 pm.

Performer Diahann Carroll has recently been confirmed as the Closing Session Speaker. The Closing Session will take place on Tuesday, July 1, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm (note the new time!) at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The Auditorium Speaker Series continues to expand. The most recent speaker added to the series are authors Khaled Hosseini who will speak in the Anaheim Convention Center. They join an eclectic mix of speakers, currently including Sally Ride, Vernon Jordan and Stephen J. Cannell. Visit the Special Events website for information on all the speakers appearing at the Conference.

The Event Planner is now open! 

Read How You Want Accessible Programs --Read How You Want is providing the American Library Association Annual Conference Program in multiple accessible formats. These range from 11 pt print up to 24 pt print as well as Braille and DAISY editions. Their award-winning technology converts ordinary books into accessible editions. They have used this technology to make our conference program accessible for the first time.
