Exhibits Round Table (ERT)

Mission
- To study convention procedures to set standards for booth rental, space assignment, exhibit hours, and information for exhibitors to plan an effective display.
- To act as an interface between exhibitors and the Association.
Responsibilities
The Exhibits Round Table is unique among ALA units in that librarians and exhibitors share both the leadership positions and membership of ERT. The Round Table provides a venue for communication and cooperation between the exhibitors at library conferences and ALA for the purpose of making the exhibits an effective part of conference.
Events
Exhibits Round Table Membership Meeting
Monday, January 23, 2012 from 8:00 am - 9:00 am in room C146 of the Dallas Convention Center
ERT/Booklist Author Forum
One of the highlights of the Midwinter Meeting is getting to hear and see favorite authors up close. The ERT/Booklist Author Forum kicks the meeting off in style on Friday afternoon when authors representing different voices come together to discuss their work as it relates to exploring social conditions past and present in fiction and nonfiction. Highly acclaimed authors Helen Schulman and Hillary Jordan will share with moderator Brad Hooper, Adult Books Editor at Booklist, their own special approaches to capturing society at large and family in particular, either in contemporary times or in the historical past. The authors will sign copies of their latest works at their publishers' booths during the Opening Exhibits Reception right after the Author Forum. Click here for more information.
2012 Midwinter Ribbon Cutting & Exhibits Opening Reception
Immediately following the ERT/Booklist Author Forum, the exhibit hall will open. The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature a brief welcome from ALA and Dallas dignitaries. The opening of the exhibits will include food, drink and entertainment through the exhibit hall. This gives exhibitors and attendees their first chance to network as the exhibits kick-off.
Promotional Activities
- Authors Forum at Midwinter: Well-known popular authors participate in a panel discussion of their most recent books in a room near the exhibit hall. Immediately following the forum these authors will join the exhibitors at the All Conference Reception to sign autographs for ALA attendees.
