This webinar focuses on challenges and opportunities in working with metadata for unusual types of content; for example: datasets, 3D models, geospatial data, born digital, oral histories. Topics may include the creation, management, and/or preservation of these types of metadata.
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this session, participants will:
- Learn strategies and methods for metadata curation and discovery for new and unique resource types based on real life examples.
- Employ strategies and methods for long term preservation and access of metadata for unique types of materials.

Nathan Hall is an associate professor at Virginia Tech University Libraries, where he directs Digital Imaging and Preservation Services. He was the Principal Investigator on LIB3DVR, an IMLS grant awarded in 2017 to study and develop library strategy for 3D and virtual reality collection development and reuse.
Jasmine Clark is the Digital Scholarship Librarian at Temple University. Her primary areas of research in the DSC are accessibility and metadata in emerging technology. Currently, she is co-leading The Virtual Blockson, a project to recreate the Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection in virtual reality, while also doing research in 3D metadata and the development of Section 508 compliant guidelines for virtual reality experiences.
