About the Kino Lorber EDU/Video Round Table Annual Scholarship The purpose is to provide, to future media librarians, financial assistance, encouragement, and a fuller understanding of the distribution industry.

Award and Frequency

The award will be made in two parts:

  •  A $1,000.00 check will be presented to the recipient at the ALA Annual Conference or mailed to the recipient if they’re not present at the ALA Annual Conference.
  •  The recipient will receive a paid trip to New York City for two days, in connection with a film festival in that city and to visit the offices of Kino Lorber to become introduced to the staff and to receive a day of information about film distribution. Kino Lorber, Inc., will provide travel expenses up to $1,000.00. Coordination of travel arrangements and travel reimbursements will be made between Kino Lorber EDU and the scholarship recipient.
This award is given out on an annual basis.

Eligibility

Future media librarians with a demonstrated interest in film history, film production, film distribution, or other significant aspect of the film industry through active participation in film programs, film festivals, film societies or the business of film. Candidates who have prior degrees in Film Studies will be given priority.  Candidates must demonstrate superior scholarship in this field of study, and completion of one academic year as a Masters Degree candidate an ALA Accredited School at the time the award is given.

Selection Criteria

The scholarship is to be given once a year to a Masters degree candidate in Library Science in an ALA Accredited School who intends to work professionally as a media librarian in an academic institution.

The recipient will be notified by telephone and then a letter of agreement will be emailed.
