Public Libraries Feature Article Contest

About the Public Libraries Feature Article Contest To recognize articles written by those employed by a public library and published in Public Libraries.

Criteria for eligibility are:

  • Author(s) must be a public library employee(s) at the time the manuscript is submitted.
  • Articles must have been submitted or published in 2011.
  • Articles must be feature length. Verso and Perspectives contributions will not be considered.

Award and Frequency

The winner of this annual award will receive $500; second place receives $300.
This award is given out on an annual basis.

Application Instructions

Send manuscripts as an email attachment (Word document) to Kathleen Hughes, khughes@ala.org or send three paper copies of your manuscript and a disk copy to Kathleen Hughes, Public Libraries, 50 East Huron Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
