This webinar covers veteran resources, collection development, making your spaces and services more welcoming to veterans, and outreach to them. Unique needs will be discussed in the context of discharging from the service, coming home from theaters of combat, and medical and psychological issues that effect veterans more than other groups. Do's and Don'ts will also be discussed in regards to interacting with veterans and putting on events.
The presenter will share information on successful exhibits he has run as well as interviewing veterans for the Library of Congress Veteran History Project.
By the end of this webinar, the participant will:
- Be aware of the unique needs of veterans in terms of accessibility, collection development, and outreach
- Be aware of the collection development needs of veteran, especially for those just mustering out of the service
- Have a working knowledge of how to make contact with the local veteran population
