This webinar is designed to help librarians understand the role of public, academic, special or school libraries in advocating for and contributing to Community Health. While many libraries provide access to health information, targeted and refined programs can more effectively address communities' needs, especially for underserved and vulnerable populations. The presenter is a clinical librarian with extensive experience providing health information to vulnerable populations and partnering with public libraries and local organizations to enhance community health.
By the end of this webinar, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the role of libraries and library staff in community health
- Describe the steps required to assess their communities' health needs
- Identify stakeholders and partners in community health initiatives
- Recognize opportunities and develop courses of action to enhance their communities' health

Sarah Carnes is Clinical Librarian at the Bedford VA Medical Center in Bedford. MA. As a Veteran herself, Sarah is honored to provide health information services to both Veterans and the clinical and research staffs. These services include consumer health information, staff training, literature searches, and support throughout the research cycle.
Sarah regularly collaborates with community partners to increase awareness of the benefits and services available to Veterans as well as to augment the resources available through the VA.
