Since 2013, Gail Borden Public Library District has collaborated with local veterans to develop innovative programs that serve area veterans, including a groundbreaking project called "Veterans on the Go." Under the umbrella title of "Veterans on the Go," the library worked with partners to foster the Veterans Information Networking Sessions; "Visiting Vets," veterans who visit veterans in senior residential facilities; and "Veterans Voices," to connect veterans who speak at local schools and organizations surrounding Veterans Day.
In this webinar, learn how to build your own veteran-focused programs within your community by reaching partners and volunteers, empowering your local veterans to connect with other veterans, creating a comfortable environment to share experiences, providing education to meet veterans' specialized needs, and ultimately honoring and supporting your veteran community.
After participation in this webinar, you will be able to:
- Identify partners in your community
- Serve veterans in your community
- Understand the specific needs and interests of this unique population
- Understand how to leverage volunteers to expand programs
