In surveys of past Institute attendees, respondents often list making connections as one of most important reasons for taking part in this conference. ALSC Connection is a group of fun, optional activities that allow attendees to unwind and network with colleagues.

Wednesday, September 26

Youth Connection Reception - 6:00-8:00 pm
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
50 E. Freedom Way
Institute attendees, local ALSC members, and invited colleagues interested in youth librarianship are welcome to attend this free networking reception featuring an opportunity to meet and mingle with representatives from local youth-serving organizations. This is an opportunity to learn more about the amazing projects and activities from organizations that support libraries in engaging communities to support healthy, successful futures for all children. This event is funded by the Friends of ALSC and will include light hors'devours and a cash bar, as well as opportunity to explore the Underground Railroad Freedom Center and its exhibits. Pre-registration for this networking reception IS required (registration form coming soon). Due to venue capacity, only the first 300 attendees to arrive will be admitted.

The perfect refresher or introductory course to ALSC and all its activities. Come hear ALSC Board members discuss important initiatives and how to get involved. Participants are eligible for a number of prizes. 
ALSC Trivia Hour - 4:30-5:30 pm
The Mercantile Library

Test your knowledge and win some prizes! Come join your colleagues for this fun trivia hour featuring topics related to children's literature. Guest can also explore the historic space and collections of the Mercantile Library with a fun scavenger hunt!

Friday, September 28

Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County - 6:30-8:30 pm
800 Vine St.

Institute attendees are invited to a reception at The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County’s Main Library. Enjoy complimentary food, wine and beer, music, and time to relax and connect with colleagues. Tours of the library will also be available, and PLCHC staff experts will be on hand to share information about some of the exciting programs and services offered by the library.
