Making Every Day a Día Day: Incorporating Día into Current Youth Programming

An effective way to really make Día (El día de los niños/El día de los libros--Children's Day/Book Day) a part of library programming throughout the year is to introduce multicultural literature and bilingual literacy into any and all programs and events at the library where it might apply.
Learning Outcomes
- Learners will discover opportunities for including bilingual literacy into library programs
- Learners will be informed of resources and sources for resources to support Día programming
- Learners will receive information on expanding Día programs and events to include languages in addition to Spanish
- Learners will gain understanding of the importance of bilingual and multicultural programming
Who Should Attend
Children's librarians and library paraprofessional and support staff in public and school libraries who work with children and families.
Course Level & Prerequisites
This webinar is open to library staff of all experience levels; no prerequisites are required.
Instructor(s)
Jeanette Larson has more than 30 years of experience working with libraries. She currently works as a freelance writer and consultant and is an adjunct professor for Texas Woman's University. Jeanette is the author of El día de los niños/El día de los libros: Building a Culture of Literacy in Your Community through Día (American Library Association, 4/11) and has been involved with Dia since the inception of the celebration.
