Creating Out-of-This-World Children’s Science Programming with Free NASA Resources
ALA Public Programs Office, co-sponsored by ALSC
Sunday, January 10
1 - 4:15 pm
Boston Convention Center

This program, one of three Deep Dive sessions offered at the Midwinter Meeting, will give participants the opportunity to try a variety of NASA hands-on activities for children and their families, which were developed for use in libraries and use inexpensive materials. Participants will receive guides to upcoming celestial, Earth and NASA mission events, such as International Observe the Moon Night, and learn how to bring these, and other connections, to our world and space exploration to communities.

The session will be led by Keliann LaConte, informal education lead at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Texas, and Wini Ashooh, youth services librarian at Central Rappahannock Regional Library in Virginia. The session is co-sponsored by the ALA Public Programs Office and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC). For more information, visit http://2016.alamidwinter.org/deep-dive-sessions.

Advance registration is required for Deep Dive sessions, which can be included with initial Midwinter Meeting registration or added later using the unique link in your registration confirmation email. To receive CEUs, a participant must attend the entire course and complete a post-session evaluation.

Each session is $95 per attendee and requires Midwinter registration. Registration can be purchased through the Midwinter Registration site. If you have mislaid your Midwinter Meeting registration confirmation details, email alaregistration@compusystems.com to request a copy.
