The Association for Library Service to Children promotes reading and books through recommendations, compilations of lists, and related services. 

Tween Recommended Reads – December 2013
Members of the 2013 School Age Programs and Services Committee have compiled this list of recommended books for tweens. List is available in full color and black and white to download and print.

Graphic Novels Reading List  - November 2013 (update)
A list of core titles for librarians starting or maintaining a children’s graphic novel collection for elementary school-age children, developed by ALSC's Quicklists Consulting Committee. Three lists are available to download--for K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grade students - in full color and black and white.

2014 Día! Booklist – November 2013 (update)
A collection of over 100 multicultural, bilingual, and second language books for children birth to age 14, compiled by the Quicklists Consulting Committee to help every day be a Día day.

Read! Build! Play! 2013 Summer Reading List - May 2013
ALSC Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee created these reading lists that feature recommended titles that inspire play for children age 5 and under. Lists are intended to accompany the Read! Build! Play! initiative.

Summer Reading Lists – April 2013
ALSC’s Quicklists Consulting Committee and School-Age Programs and Services Committee recommend these book titles to keep children engaged in reading throughout the summer. Three lists are available--for K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grade students.

Notable Children's Books- Current list
Each year the Notable Children's Books Committee selects the best of the best in children's books. These books are of commendable quality, books that exhibit venturesome creativity, and books of fiction, information, poetry and pictures for all age levels (birth through age 14) that reflect and encourage children's interests in exemplary ways.

Building a Home Library - August 2012
Four bibliographies created by the ALA-Children’s Book Council (CBC) Joint Committee, with cooperation from ALSC’s Quicklists Consulting Committee to provide guidance to parents, grandparents, and others interested in assembling a high-quality library for their children at home.

Summer Favorites reading list - National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) - June 2012
ALSC's Quicklists Consulting Committee worked with NEH to update this reading list, which has been offered since 1998. More than 90 new titles appear on the updated list, which is arranged by grade level and offers more than 230 titles selected for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Money as You Grow - May 2012
This list was developed in May 2012 by the Quicklists Consulting Committee of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association for the Money as You Grow initiative.

Nature-focused books for children - May 2012
This list was created by the Quicklists Consulting Committee for the American Camp Association’s Explore 30 Camp Reading program.

Great Early Elementary Reads - December 2011
The ALSC 2011-2012 School-Age Programs and Services Committee recommends these titles for children who are just learning to read and beginning to read on their own. The books included were published between 2009 and 2011. However, many are part of a larger series that young readers will also enjoy.
