Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within ALSC Implementation Task Force


1) To further the work of the prior Diversity Within ALSC Task Force, as voted by the ALSC Board at Annual 2017:

a. Implement recommendations 2, 3.1, 3.2, 3.5, 5.4 and 5.7 (see Activities for further details), with performance measures for evaluation.

b. Consider recommendation 1 (establishing a permanent committee) and make further recommendation to the board.
c. Prioritize the remaining recommendations, including identifying performance metrics for them, and implement them as well as possible within the length of term which will be concurrent with the duration of our 2017-2020 strategic plan 
2) To regularly advise the ALSC President and Executive Committee (EC) through the duration of the 2017-2020 ALSC strategic plan to ensure the spirit of the plan, and of the prior Diversity within ALSC TF’s recommendations, are carried through; and to be available to the ALSC EC for input as needed.

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within ALSC Implementation Task Force consists of 7 members including two co-chairs, working with the ALSC Deputy Director as Staff Liaison. The task force will be supported by Priority Group IV, Organizational Support, as well as by an ad hoc advisory team.

The task force will meet virtually. 
Term of appointment: Immediately (August 2017) through the end of the 2020 Midwinter Conference (January 2020). 


Established at the request of the Board of Directors at the 2017 ALA Annual Conference.

Get Involved

ALSC and ALA value committed and active committee members. Qualified ALSC members are welcome to volunteer to serve on ALSC's committees. Committee members must have an interest in the work of the committee; be able to attend Annual Conferences and Midwinter Meetings to participate in the meetings and activities of the committee; and be able to work between conferences via e-mail and ALA Connect. Express your interest in serving on this or other ALSC committees by filling out an ALSC committee volunteer form. Depending on the committee, appointments take place either in the spring or fall. Accordingly, committee service begins either following Annual Conference or Midwinter Meeting.
