eLRTS Access for ALCTS Members and Subscribers

Good news—ALCTS members and subscribers can now access eLRTS, the searchable, digital version of Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS). As a member of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), you will continue to receive your quarterly print copy of LRTS plus access to digital versions of each issue going back to volume 40, number 1 (January 1996). Issues appear online several days before the print versions arrive in your mailbox.

The print version of LRTS will cease publication after the October 2014 issue and will be available only online starting with the January 2015 issue.

You will need to have a MetaPress account to enable access. If you have already registered on a MetaPress site, you can use the same MetaPress account to login and view eLRTS.

If you do not have an account registered with MetaPress, follow these steps to create an account and access eLRTS:

  1. Visit http://alcts.metapress.com/identities/registration/
  2. Click on "Register Individual."
  3. Provide your name and email address and create a username and password—the username and password will be different from those you use to login at ALA’s web site.

During registration, you will see a "Consume Token" section. Within this box, you will need to enter your ALCTS access code. Your ALCTS code consists of the letters “ALCTS” followed immediately by your 7-digit ALA member number—no spaces, no dashes. If you don’t know your ALA member number, contact ALA Membership & Customer Service at membership@ala.org or 1-800-545-2433, option 5. If your ALA member number is fewer than 7 digits, please include leading zeros, e.g., ALCTS0012345.

  1. After entering the code, click "Register."

If you already have an institutional MetaPress account, please send an email to support@metapress.com. Include the number shown next to your institution name in the top-left corner of the screen next to “Recognized as.”

If you do not have an account, you will need to open a free, institutional MetaPress account. The account allows IP-based authentication and unlimited simultaneous access, including multiple physical locations that use the same IP address.

Please follow these steps:

  1. A person who will act as administrator must create an individual account at:
  2. Send an email to support@metapress.com with the following information:
    Name of Administrator
MetaPress ID from the new individual account

    IP Address or Range

For specific MetaPress technical questions, please contact Stephen Pettis, Account Service Manager, Metapress, support@metapress.com or (205)-981-4037.

Once registered, you should see that you are "Recognized as: ALCTS access (603-22-068)" on the left side of the screen. If you are not, please contact support@metapress.com; make sure to include your ALA member number, your newly registered account information, and let them know you are trying to access eLRTS.

Once you are recognized as ALCTS member, you will have full access to eLRTS! Click on "Browse Journal" to browse the content.
