The Preservation Week Committee consists of eight members appointed by the Chair-Elect. Eight members each serving a two-year term, plus one Chair serving a one-year term. Service is limited to four consecutive years.

Established in 2009 at the request of ALCTS, the former task force was originally charged with investigating the value of promoting a Preservation Week, but in 2010 its scope changed to both initiate and continue the Preservation Week event. ALA has designated Preservation Week as Celebration Week event. At the ALA Midwinter Meeting in 2014, PARS changed the name of the group from Preservation Week Working Group to Preservation Week Committee.
