Composition

Membership is limited to the technical services directors of:

  • 3 U.S. national libraries (LC, NLM, NAL)
  • Library and Archives Canada
  • 2 large public libraries (NYPL, Boston Public)
  • The 3 largest Canadian libraries (Toronto, Alberta, British Columbia)
  • 1 large U.S. non-ARL institution (Stanford)
  • U.S. ARL institutions whose average Investment Index figure is 0.5 or above (actual numbers may fluctuate)

Membership is reviewed every three years. 

Subcommittees & Task Forces

Membership is limited to the technical services directors of:

  • the 24 largest ARL university libraries (including the Canadian libraries);
  • one non-ARL university library (Stanford University);
  • two public libraries which meet the same criteria as the 24 largest ARL research libraries; and
  • three national libraries (standing members)

Established Annual Conference 1963.

Get Involved

Active participation is reserved primarily for the interest group membership, but guests are welcome in the audience at Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences.
