This group was discontinued in 2014. The group's charge was: to provide a forum for the discussion of the development and implementation of automated acquisitions/in-process control systems in libraries; topics of discussion include, but are not limited to, automation of the traditional functions of order generation, receipt, check-in, claiming, cancelations, fund accounting, in-process control, and binding of monographs and serials; compatibility of these automated functions and integration with other online systems in the library; development of national levels of standardization for machine-readable acquisitions and in-process records; communication formats for the online systems in the library; development of national levels of standardization for machine-readable acquisitions and in-process records; communication formats for the online and tape transfer of order and vendor information; public access to in-process records and the need for authority control at the in-process stage; and integration of machine-readable in-process records with full and brief cataloging records. Also, to allow for the practical exchange of information on the implementation of various commercial and in-house acquisitions and processing systems in libraries.
