Budget and Finance Committee (B&F)

Charge

To submit a recommended annual budget for action to the ALCTS board of directors; to perform budget analyses and fiscal planning; to advise units requesting ALCTS funds; to review all requests for ALCTS funds; to advise the ALCTS board on all fiscal matters of the division, including fiscal implications of all division publications and programs; and to represent ALCTS at the ALA planning and budget assembly; and to plan and monitor activities using the association's strategic and tactical plan as a framework.

Composition

The Budget and Finance Committee consists of 8 members at large led by the appointed chair. Interns are welcome. The chair is an ex-officio member of the ALCTS Board of Directors. The chair of the ALCTS Fundraising Committee is a liason to the Budget and Finance Committee.

Origin

The Budget and Finance Committee originally consisted of representatives appointed from each ALCTS section. The composition was changed in 2009 to include 2 members at large. The composition was changed again in 2015 for all members to be at large.

Get Involved

ALCTS values committed and active committee members. Qualified members are welcome to volunteer to serve on the Budget and Finance Committee.  Committee members must have an interest in the work of the committee and be able to work between meetings via e-mail and ALA Connect.  Members are required to attend Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences. Appointments take place once a year, during the spring. Committee service usually begins following Annual Conference, about July 1. Express your interest in serving on this committee by filling out an application form.
