To serve as a clearinghouse for RDA associated planning and training resources. To complement the work that the Library of Congress, the Program for Cooperative Cataloging, OCLC, and others are doing to provide planning guidelines and training for RDA: Resource Description & Access by 1) providing resources and activities that support libraries' plans for implementation of RDA in the United States; 2) developing an integrated timetable for these activities and resources that identifies persons or organizations who will take the lead for each activity and resource development; and 3) coordinating efforts, as necessary, through CaMMS and ALCTS Continuing Education in collaboration with the appropriate bodies.

The RDA Planning and Training Task Force consists of a chair and members appointed by the CaMMS Executive Committee from the Cataloging and Metadata Management Section of ALCTS. The Task Force also includes liaisons, one each, from the LC, PCC, OCLC, and CC:DA. Additional liaisons may be appointed by vested groups as deemed appropriate.
The RDA Planning and Training Task Force was established in 2010 by the Cataloging and Classification Section's Executive Committee.
Members of the RDA Planning and Training Task Force are appointed from the Cataloging and Metadata Management Section of ALCTS.
