CaMMS Policy and Planning Committee

Charge

To consider and recommend to the CaMMS executive committee policies relevant to the cataloging and classification section; to consider cataloging and classification issues as a whole, including long-range section goals and objectives, and identify and recommend to the executive committee new activities to be undertaken by the section. To review CaMMS committee charges and roles on a regular basis and make recommendations to the CaMMS executive committee on potential changes. To remind interest groups to petition for renewal on a regular basis and assist them with this process. To coordinate the work of the policy and planning committee with the ALCTS planning committee. To plan and monitor activities using the association's strategic and tactical plan as a framework.

Composition

The Policy and Planning committee consists of seven members appointed from the membership at large, serving two-year terms and led by a chair.

Origin

Established in 2003 at the request of the ALCTS Cataloging and Classification Section Executive Committee.

Get Involved

ALA values committed and active committee members. Qualified members are welcome to volunteer to serve on the CaMMS Policy and Planning Committee. Committee members must have an interest in the work of the committee; be able to attend Annual Conferences and Midwinter Meetings to participate in the meetings and activities of the committee; and be able to work between conferences via e-mail and ALA Connect. Express your interest in serving on this or other committees by filling out an application form. Appointments take place once a year, during the spring. Committee service usually begins following Annual Conference, about July 1.
