Charge

The object of this section is to contribute to library service and librarianship through encouragement, promotion of, and responsibility for those activities of the Association for Library Collections & Technical services of the American Library Association relating to the acquisition of all formats of information resources through purchase, lease and other access methods, in all types of institutions; and to plan and monitor activities using the association's strategic and tactical plan as a framework.

Composition

The Executive Committee consists of three Officers (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary), plus Past-Chair, and three (3) Members-at-Large.  LRTS Assistant Editor and ALCTS Executive Director serve ex officio, without a vote.

Origin

Established as part of the division infrastructure.

Get Involved

ALA values committed and active committee members. Qualified members are welcome to volunteer to serve on the Acquisitions Section Executive Committee. Committee members must have an interest in the work of the committee; be able to attend Annual Conferences and Midwinter Meetings to participate in the meetings and activities of the committee; and be able to work between conferences via e-mail and ALA Connect. Express your interest in serving on this or other committees by filling out an application form. Appointments take place once a year, during the spring. Committee service usually begins following Annual Conference, about July 1.   See the ALCTS Volunteer Page.
