NISO's IOTA Initiative: Improving OpenURLs Through Analytics
an ALCTS Program
Sunday, June 24, 2012 | 10:30-Noon
Content area: Transforming: Virtual Space
NISO'S IOTA initiative aims to eliminate the major remaining problems with OpenURL linking through data analysis. Currently millions of community-derived OpenURLs can be examined in a public reporting tool, and a scoring system is underway to rank providers by their OpenURL quality. After an overview of OpenURL problems, two speakers will explain how institutions are already using IOTA's work to improve OpenURLs for e-books and to identify the best metadata for inclusion in link-to syntaxes.
