Letters from ALCTS
From the Editor

The Polls are Now Open!
The polls have opened and the elections for ALCTS President and ALCTS Division chairs, as well as ALA President, are now open. I urge you to vote. This is one of your privileges as a member of ALCTS and ALA. See the “Election 2010” portion of this newsletter for information on candidates, including ALCTS members running for ALA Council. The polls opened March 16 and will close on April 23 at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time.
The candidates for ALA President recently visited my institution, and I had an opportunity to meet both of them. The “Election 2010” section includes questions for the candidates and their responses.
On another note, this issue of ANO includes reports and other information from the 2010 ALA Midwinter Meeting that took place in Boston this past January. The reports include discussion of possible reorganization of the ALCTS CMDS, RDA (testing, RDA toolkit, implementation), e-books (acquiring and cataloging), workflow discussions for technical services managers. The New Members Interest Group held its first meeting, and their report is also in this issue. I trust you will find the reports timely and useful—I know that I certainly did. See the Midwinter Reports section of the newsletter for details.
I also want to draw your attention to two resources which are mentioned in the News section of the newsletter: there is a new web site available for the Year of Cataloging Research and the Planning Committee is in the process of developing a new web site/database for planning activities.
