Candidates Announced for 2010 Midwinter Council Executive Board Election

ALA has released its list of candidates for the upcoming 2010 election. The slate is available online. This is not the final list of candidates; any ALA member who wants to be on the ballet may file a petition. The deadline for filing is January 29, 2010. A final slate of candidates will be available after the petition deadline.

Note that a number of ALCTS members are running for ALA office.

Applications Sought for 2010 ALA Annual Conference Poster Session Proposals    

Proposals for poster sessions to be presented at the 2010 ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. are now being accepted. Find the application form online and submit your proposal by the January 1, 2010 deadline. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by March 2, 2010.

The poster sessions will take place at the Washington Convention Center on June 26–28. Contact Candace Benefiel, Chair of the ALA Poster Session Review Panel for more information. She may also be reached at (979) 862-1044.

ACRL Announces New Image Resources Interest Group    

ACRL has launched a new interest group, the Image Resources Interest Group, which will meet for the first time during the 2010 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston. The IG will meet Saturday, January 16, 4–5:30pm at the Westin Copley Place, Great Republic Room. This new group was formed to provide a forum for ongoing discussion of the unique issues presented by the development and support of interdisciplinary image resources in academic libraries.
