Call for Papers for IFLA Cataloguing Section

The IFLA Cataloguing Section invites cataloguers and others involved in the following to express their interest in making presentations at the section's program in Durban, South Africa. The theme is “Cataloging Partnerships.”

  • A library or libraries in Africa working with another library or other libraries in Africa in cooperative cataloging project or activity;
  • A library or libraries outside Africa working with a library or libraries in Africa in a cataloging project or activity.
  • Send a detailed abstract (one page or at least 300 words) of the proposed paper (it must not have been published elsewhere) and relevant biographical information of author(s)/presenter(s) by December 15, 2006 via email to Judy Kuhagen, Chair, IFLA Cataloguing Section at
  • Members of the Cataloguing Section’s Standing Committee will review the abstracts. Successful proposals will be identified by January 31, 2007. Full papers will be due by April 15, 2007 to allow time for review of papers and preparation of translations; papers should be no longer than 20 pages.

Poster Session Applications Sought for 2007 ALA Annual Conference

Applications for presenting poster sessions at the 2007 ALA Annual Conference are now being accepted. An application form is available on the poster session website. Submissions from both the United States, as well as international submissions, will be accepted.

The 2007 ALA Annual Poster Sessions will be held in Washington, DC, June 23, 24, and 25. For more information, contact Candace Benefiel, Chair of the ALA Poster Session Review Panel at or (979) 862-1044.

The deadline for submitting an application is January 31, 2007. Applicants will be notified by March 31, 2007 whether their submission has been accepted for presentation at the conference.
